David Archuleta is just getting started.
After a meaningful coming home performance at the Utah Pride Festival on Sunday afternoon, the singer-songwriter announced that for the first time in five years, he is releasing a new album — and hitting the road.
“Earthly Delights,” an EP, will release on Aug. 15 and feature six tracks — including his recent songs “Crème Brulée” and “Can I Call You.”
“Earthly Delights is taking in the pleasures of what I always thought would keep me out of heaven. For the belief I always had of the hell and unhappiness I would experience for giving into my ‘carnal nature’ of sexuality,“ Archuleta writes in a news release, ”... here’s to a big F you to my old fears and embracing the sensual side and ‘earthly delights’ of how good and rich it feels.”
Following the release of “Earthly Delights,” Archuleta will hit the road for two months on a 19-stop tour across the country — starting in Arizona and ending in Pennsylvania.
Archuleta will stop at the Rockwell at The Complex in Salt Lake City on Sept. 19.
He is set to perform songs from the new EP along with fan favorites from his early career, like “Crush.” Alexandra John and Rachel Bochner will join him as supporting acts on tour.
In recent years, Archuleta has become vocal about his journey of coming out. He has expressed the emotions of that journey into his music.
Tickets for the “Earthly Delights” Tour go on sale June 10 at 10 a.m. (Pacific Time) as part of the artist’s presale and general tickets go on sale on Friday, June 13.
Archuleta’s tour will also feature a limited number of VIP packages ($200, minus fees) where fans can have a meet and greet experience, get exclusive merch, early entry and a general admission ticket.
There will only be 50 of the VIP packages available.
